Soccer – Are A.C. Milan Back?

Forza Milan

Forza Milan

With a run of four positive results after starting the year 0-2, it looks like A.C. Milan might be on it’s was back to the top of the football world.  Sure, they’re not in the Champions League this year but the UEFA Cup will do them good.  It will give them a chance to try some different formations and give Shevchenko and Ronaldinho extra playing time.  I think Shevchenko will see more playing time mid-week than on Sundays.

Bringing back Abbiati was a smart move as Dida is on the downside of his career.  He gave us great years but it’s time to move on.  The additions of Senderos, Flamini, Zambrotta, Ronaldinho and Shevchenko makes this team as talented, if not more, than any team in Serie A.  Sure, you added those players but don’t forget you still have Gattuso, Ambrosini, Jankulovski, Kaladze, Kaka, Pirlo, Seedorf, Pato and Inzaghi.  How does that sound?

Pato is still so young but you can see that this kid is going to be talented.  Kaka is Kaka and nothing more needs be said.  Pirlo is one of the top 10 players in the world but he doesn’t get enough credit.  Gattuso is an animal on the pitch and my favorite player, just above Franck Ribery (more on him in another post).  Seedorf has been around forever but is only 32 so he has tons of football still left in him.  I need to see more of Jankulovski this year.  He was a brilliant player but hasn’t found much room during his days in Milan.

I have to admit, I was worried with their start of the season but now I feel confident we can contend for the Serie A title and a place back in the Champions League.  They are currently in 6th place, only 3 points behind leaders Lazio and they will fade away eventually.  If you are an A.C. Milan fan, this might be the first year in many that you will be able to enjoy the season.
