NCAA/NFL Picks 9/27 & 9/28

This weekend I went 2-1 in both college and pro football.  That puts me at 5-3-1 in NCAA picks and 6-2-1 in NFL Picks for a total of 11-5-2.  I still need to go undefeated in at least one of the two for a weekend, preferably both.  The mistake I made this week is that I let my personal feelings about the Jets cloud my judgement.  It doesn’t matter how I feel about a particular team, I’m betting on the match-up and against the number.  Also, stay away from Auburn.  They have no offense.  I can’t figure them out.  They let teams stay in games instead of blowing them out.

NCAA:

Auburn (-6.5) beat Tennessee 14-12 (L).  See my thoughts above when it comes to Auburn.   This was just an awful game.  Tennessee threw for 67 yards.  Can you believe that number?  Who would have thought that Chris Todd would make you long for Eric Ainge?

Texas (-27.5) beat Arkansas 52-10 (W).  I predicted Texas would score 50 and I was pretty close on the score.  Arkansas was below 200 yards in total offense, Texas had over 400.  The Longhorns aren’t getting enough respect this year.  Everyone is on Ohio State, USC and Georgia and Texas is just flying under the radar putting up big numbers.

Alabama (+6.5) beat Georgia 41-30 (W).  I thought Bama would cover but I never imagined they would win.  Don’t let the score fool you, Bama was in control of this game from the start.  They actually led 31-0 before Georgia showed up for the game.  Maybe the Bulldogs should have worried about Alabama all week instead of those black jerseys.  So much for the black-out.  Watch out for this young Crimson Tide team.

NFL:

NYJ (-1) beat Arizona 56-35 (L).  I was right about Warner having a field day against the Jets. He threw for 472 yards but had 3 picks.  Who new Favre would throw 6 touchdowns?  Do you think the Pack could use him right now?  It’s a good thing they could throw the ball because no one could run the ball.

San Diego (-7.5) beat Oakland 28-18 (W).  Oakland was leading this game 15-0 but let the Chargers score 25 points in the 4th.  Way to hang on Raiders.  Rivers was outplayed by JaMarcus Russell.  Has Kiffin been fired yet?

New Orleans (-4) beat San Francisco 31-17 (W).  Brees put up 363 yards in this one.  The game was never close.  So much for that San Fran revival.
